Terms of Service and Sale

1. Purpose and acceptance

These Terms of Service and Sale (the "Terms") govern access to and use of the IdealCV service (the "Service"), as well as subscriptions to paid plans.

By creating an account or subscribing to a plan, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms. If you don't accept them, please don't use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

IdealCV is an online resume builder. Among other things, it lets you:

• write a resume with an editor, live preview, every template, drag-and-drop section ordering and a completeness score;
• rely on autosave, create named versions and restore them;
• import an existing PDF or DOCX resume, or the PDF export of a LinkedIn profile, through automatic extraction followed by a review screen (with no connection to LinkedIn);
• export a resume as PDF, DOCX or TXT, in A4 or Letter size;
• share a resume through a public link that you can turn off at any time;
• analyse a resume against a job offer (ATS score, keywords, spelling hints);
• use artificial intelligence features: summary and bullet point generation, rewriting, tailoring to a job offer, cover letters, interview questions and skills gap analysis;
• write cover letters and practise with an interview question simulator.

A public ATS checker is also available without an account; it gives a score and three tips.

The Service is a writing aid. IdealCV is not a recruitment agency or an intermediary with employers, and it does not guarantee any interview or job.

3. Account and security

To use the Service, you must create an account with an email address and a password of at least 8 characters including at least one digit, or sign in with Google. You agree to provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for actions taken from your account. You can view and revoke your active sessions. If you forget your password, we email you a reset link. After 5 failed sign-in attempts, the account is locked for 15 minutes.

Let us know straight away if you notice any unauthorised use of your account.

4. Plans, prices and payment

The Service is offered under the following plans:

Yearly billing costs €60 incl. VAT a year, charged in one go, that is €5 a month. Up-to-date plan details are on the Pricing page.

Prices are in euros and include all taxes. The total price and billing period are displayed before you enter any payment details.

7-day free trial. The monthly PRO plan can be tried for free for 7 days, once per account. The yearly plan has no trial: it is paid on subscription and covered by the voluntary refund described below. A bank card is requested at the start of the trial; nothing is charged during the trial. Before you enter the card, a summary shows the price including VAT, the date of the first charge and the cancellation deadline, and you confirm by ticking a box that is never pre-ticked. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it automatically becomes a paid subscription on that date.

Payment is made by card through our payment provider [TO BE COMPLETED]. IdealCV never has access to your card details. The first payment is taken when you subscribe, then at the start of each new period.

5. Renewal and cancellation

End of the free trial. A reminder is shown in your account two days and then one day before the trial ends. Cancelling the trial, in one click from Account → Subscription, means nothing is charged: you keep the plan until the trial ends, then your account moves to the free plan. Changing plans during the trial does not extend it.

PRO subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period, for the same duration and at the current price. The next renewal date is clearly displayed in Account → Subscription.

You can cancel in one click from Account → Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period: you keep access to your plan until then, and no further payment is taken. There is no hidden renewal.

You can reactivate your subscription as long as the current period hasn't ended. When the period ends, your account moves to the free plan and your content remains available.

If the price of a plan changes, we will tell you before your renewal date so that you can cancel if you wish.

6. Right of withdrawal and refunds

Statutory right of withdrawal. If you are a consumer living in the European Union, you generally have 14 days from subscribing to withdraw from a contract concluded at a distance. For a digital service that you ask to start immediately, this right may be limited, or you may have to pay for the part of the service already provided, as set out in the French Consumer Code.

Voluntary 14-day refund. Regardless of those rules, and without needing to give a reason, IdealCV voluntarily grants a full refund on request made within 14 days after your first payment or the renewal of a yearly subscription.

Send your request through the contact form, under the "Billing" category. The refund is made to the original payment method within 14 days. Monthly renewals are not refunded, but cancelling stops the next renewal.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of all the content you create or import on IdealCV: resumes, cover letters, pasted job offers, photos and so on.

You grant IdealCV a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence, limited to what is strictly necessary to host, store, reproduce, display, convert and process that content for the sole purpose of providing the Service to you (for example to generate a preview, an export or an AI suggestion). This licence ends when the content or account is deleted, subject to technical purge delays.

You confirm that you hold the necessary rights to the content you import and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. You alone are responsible for the accuracy of the information on your resumes and cover letters.

8. Public link

You can turn on a public link for a resume. Anyone with the link can then view the resume. You choose what information appears on it and can turn the link off at any time, at which point it stops working.

IdealCV may disable a public link whose content is clearly unlawful or breaches these Terms.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• publish or share content that is unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, hateful or infringes the rights of others;
• create a resume under someone else's identity, or with false information intended to mislead an employer;
• use the Service to send spam or host content unrelated to job seeking;
• try to get around quotas, technical limits, the IdealCV logo or security measures;
• scrape data at scale, automate access to the Service without permission, or resell the Service;
• disrupt the Service or try to access other users' data.

10. Artificial intelligence

AI features produce suggestions that may be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable. You must review them, and you remain solely responsible for the truthfulness and use of any content you keep.

When you use these features, the text needed for the request is sent to our AI model provider [TO BE COMPLETED]. IdealCV does not use your content to train models. Don't enter sensitive data. Daily quotas depend on your plan.

11. IdealCV intellectual property

The Service, its templates, interface, text, logos and software are protected and remain the property of IdealCV or its licensors. You receive a personal, non-transferable right to use them, limited to using the Service. You are free to use resumes exported from the templates for your job applications.

12. Availability

We do our best to keep the Service available at all times, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily suspended for maintenance, updates or incidents. We recommend keeping a copy of important resumes, for example through exports or the data export.

We may change the Service's features. If a change removes an essential feature of a paid plan you are subscribed to, you may cancel and get a refund for the unused period.

13. Liability

IdealCV has an obligation of means (best efforts). We cannot be held liable for:

• the outcome of your applications or decisions made by recruiters;
• the accuracy of content you enter, import or keep after an AI suggestion;
• damage caused by use that breaches these Terms or by your own fault, including disclosing your credentials;
• interruptions caused by force majeure.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes the rights you have as a consumer under the law, including the statutory conformity guarantee for digital content and services, or our liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct or personal injury.

14. Suspension and termination

You can delete your account at any time from Account → My data. Your data is anonymised immediately and permanently purged after 30 days. Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription by itself, so we recommend cancelling it first.

If you seriously breach these Terms, IdealCV may suspend or close your account after notifying you and, except in urgent cases or where the law requires otherwise, giving you the chance to respond. If a paid account is closed without good reason, we refund the unused period.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms. For any significant change, we will notify you in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don't accept the new Terms, you can cancel your subscription and delete your account before that date. The version that applies is the one in force when you use the Service.

17. Governing law, mediation and disputes

These Terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you still benefit from the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence.

If a problem arises, please contact our support team first through the contact form, and we will look for an amicable solution.

In accordance with the French Consumer Code, if your written complaint has not been resolved, you can refer the matter free of charge to the following consumer mediator: [TO BE COMPLETED] (mediator's name, address and website).

If no amicable solution is found, the dispute will be brought before the competent courts. For consumers, these are the courts designated by law, including the courts of your place of residence. For non-consumer users, the courts of [TO BE COMPLETED] have jurisdiction.
