You can change your password at any time from your Account area.

1. Sign in to IdealCV.
2. Open Account, then the password section.
3. Enter your current password, then your new one.
4. Save the change.

Your new password must be at least 8 characters long and include at least one digit. Pick a password you don't use on any other site. Ideally, let a password manager generate it for you.

If you only sign in with Google, your password is managed by Google. Change it in your Google account settings instead.

Once you've changed it, take a minute to review your active sessions and revoke any you don't recognise.

Don't worry: you can get back into your account in a few minutes.

1. On the sign-in page, click Forgot password.
2. Enter the email address linked to your account.
3. Open the email we send you and click the reset link.
4. Choose a new password (at least 8 characters, including one digit).

The link is personal and only valid for a limited time. If you can't find the email, check your spam folder before requesting a new one.

Account temporarily locked? After 5 failed sign-in attempts, access is locked for 15 minutes. This protects your account against people trying to guess your password. Wait until the 15 minutes are up, then try again or reset your password.

If you use Google sign-in, use the Google button instead of the email form.

Every time you sign in to IdealCV from a browser or device, a session is opened. You can review these sessions and close them remotely.

1. Open Account, then the active sessions section.
2. Go through the list: each entry is a sign-in to your account.
3. Click Revoke next to a session to close it immediately.

The person or device using that session is signed out and will have to sign in again to access the account.

This is useful if you signed in on a shared computer, lost a device, or spot a session you don't recognise. In that last case, revoke the session and change your password straight away.

IdealCV offers a full range of templates, all included in the free plan, in five families: classic, sidebar, full header, structured and minimal editorial.

To switch, open your resume in the editor, then Formatting → Browse templates. Filter by family or feature (photo, two columns, one page…), click a template to see your own content in it, then choose Apply. Your content stays the same. If a setting doesn't exist in the new template (two columns, photo…), it is adapted and a notification lets you undo the change. Star your favourite templates to find them faster.

A few pointers:

• Classic, Monochrome or Editorial for traditional sectors such as finance, law or the public sector.
• Modern, Slate or Banner for tech, digital or consulting roles.
• Minimal or Swiss if you want a clean, highly readable look.
• Compact if you have a lot of experience to fit on one page, Executive for a senior career on two pages.

Every template has its own page under Resume templates, with a rendered example and its baseline readability for applicant tracking systems. You can also reorder sections with drag and drop, and use the completeness score to see what's still missing.

Yes. You can start from an existing resume in PDF or DOCX format, or from the PDF export of your LinkedIn profile.

1. Choose the import option when you create a resume.
2. Select your file.
3. IdealCV analyses the document and sorts the information into sections such as experience, education and skills.
4. A review screen opens: fix or complete anything that needs it, then confirm.

Extraction works by automatically analysing the file's layout. It works well in most cases, but mistakes can happen, especially with highly designed or multi-column layouts. Always check the result before moving on.

For LinkedIn, IdealCV does not connect to your account and nothing is synced. Download the PDF of your profile from LinkedIn yourself, then import it.

Yes. IdealCV saves your changes automatically as you work. There's no Save button to look for: if you close the tab, your resume will be exactly as you left it.

To keep a specific state, create a named version, for example "Marketing application" or "Before redesign". This is handy when you tailor the same resume for different roles.

To go back to a version:

1. Open the resume.
2. Show its list of versions.
3. Pick the version you want and click Restore.

IdealCV offers three export formats:

• PDF: the recommended format for applications, because the layout is locked. It's available on every plan; on the free plan it carries the IdealCV logo at the bottom left of each page.
• DOCX: for editing your resume in a word processor. It's included in PRO, with no IdealCV logo.
• TXT: plain text, handy for pasting your content into online application forms.

Before exporting, choose the page size: A4, the standard in Europe and most countries, or Letter, used mainly in the United States and Canada.

Always check the preview before downloading, especially page breaks. Plan details are on the Pricing page.

The free plan gives you the full editor, live preview, every template and ATS analysis. In return, PDF, PNG and text exports and your public page carry the IdealCV logo and name at the bottom left of each page (a “Made with IdealCV” line at the end of the text file), never over your content. No other watermark is ever added. The editor preview shows it too, so you see exactly what you download.

To get PDFs without this logo, upgrade to PRO: €19.90 per month incl. VAT, or €60 a year (that is €5 a month), with a 7-day free trial on the monthly plan. The plan also adds DOCX export.

1. Open the Pricing page.
2. Choose the plan and billing period that suit you.
3. Complete the payment.
4. Export your resume again: the logo is gone.

Files you've already downloaded keep the logo, so remember to export your resumes again after upgrading. The price is always shown before you enter any payment details.

Instead of sending a file, you can share your resume with a public link in the form /r/…. Anyone with the link can view the online version of your resume without creating an account.

1. Open your resume in the editor.
2. Turn on public link sharing.
3. Copy the link and add it to your application, email signature or profile.

The link always shows the latest version of your resume. You can turn it off at any time from the same place, and it stops working immediately.

Think about what's visible before sharing a link. For example, you may not want your full home address on it. On the PRO plan, you can also choose a theme for your public page.

Free: the full editor with live preview, every template, PDF export with the IdealCV logo at the bottom of each page, 10 AI uses per day and ATS analysis.

PRO – €19.90 per month incl. VAT: everything above, plus PDF export without the IdealCV logo and DOCX export, 200 AI uses per day, unlimited ATS analyses and unlimited named versions.

PRO also includes unlimited cover letters and themes for your public page.

Choose yearly billing and PRO costs €60 a year, that is €5 a month: it is the offer shown by default.

PRO comes with a 7-day free trial on the monthly plan, once per account (the yearly plan is charged at once, with a 14-day refund window): your card is requested at the start, nothing is charged during the trial, and the summary shows the price and date of the first charge before you enter the card. Cancel in one click before the trial ends to pay nothing.

The price is always shown before you enter any payment details. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period, and you can cancel in one click. See the full comparison on the Pricing page.

You can cancel your subscription in one click, without contacting us.

1. Open Account → Subscription.
2. Click Cancel subscription.
3. Confirm.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current period, whether monthly or yearly. Until then, you keep every feature of your plan. No further renewal is charged afterwards, and there's no hidden renewal.

When the period ends, your account moves back to the free plan. Your resumes stay available, but PDF exports will carry the IdealCV logo at the bottom of each page again.

Changed your mind? As long as the current period hasn't ended, you can reactivate your subscription from the same page.

If you've just paid for the first time or your yearly subscription has just renewed, you can also request a refund within 14 days.

You can get a full refund if you ask for it within 14 days of:

• your first payment;
• or the renewal of a yearly subscription.

To make a request:

1. Open the contact form.
2. Choose the Billing category.
3. Enter the email address linked to your account and say that you'd like a refund.

The refund goes back to the payment method you used, within 14 days.

Monthly renewals are not refunded. You can still cancel at any time from Account → Subscription to stop the next charge.

You can download all your data at any time, directly from the app.

1. Open Account → My data.
2. Click the export button.
3. A file in JSON format is downloaded.

The file contains the data linked to your account: profile details, resumes and their versions, cover letters, ATS analyses (including the job offers you pasted) and subscription information.

JSON is an open, structured format that most tools can read. It lets you exercise your right to data portability under the GDPR, for example to keep an archive or reuse your content elsewhere.

If you just need to correct something, you don't need an export: edit it directly in your profile. Learn more in our privacy policy.

You can delete your account yourself from Account → My data.

Before you start, we recommend that you:

1. Download your data from the same page if you want to keep a copy.
2. Cancel any paid subscription from Account → Subscription.

Then click Delete my account and confirm.

Here's what happens:

• Immediately, your personal data is anonymised and the account is deactivated. You can no longer sign in, and your public links stop working.
• After 30 days, the data is permanently purged from our systems.

Some billing records must be kept longer to meet our legal obligations. Details are in our privacy policy.

The AI features (summary writing, rewriting, tailoring to a job offer, cover letters, interview questions and skills gap analysis) only run when you trigger them.

When you do, only the text needed for that request is sent to our AI model provider to produce a suggestion.

• No training: IdealCV does not use your content to train models.
• Minimal logs: we only record the name of the feature used and the number of tokens consumed, never the content of your text.
• No sensitive data: don't include information about your health, political opinions, religious beliefs or anything similar.

The results are suggestions and may be inaccurate. Review them and make sure everything on your resume is true.
